ABOUT
Seowon Hyun is a Korean composer for film and television, currently based in Los Angeles. She began her career in South Korea as a lead composer at the studio of Bang Jun-seok, one of the country’s most celebrated film music directors.
During her time there, she contributed to the scores of 11 feature films, including several of Korea’s highest-grossing box office hits such as <Along with the Gods 신과 함께(2017)>, <Ashfall 백두산(2019)>, and <Escape from Mogadishu 모가디슈(2020)>. Her work on <The Book of Fish 자산어보(2021)> contributed to the film’s recognition for Best Original Score at the 2021 Blue Dragon Awards, one of South Korea’s most prestigious film honors.
Seowon holds a Master of Music in Screen Scoring from the University of Southern California, where she was awarded the Sandra and Alan Silvestri Scholarship, given annually to the program’s top applicant.
Now based in Los Angeles, she draws from her Korean heritage and cinematic sensibility to shape a distinctive musical voice. Her recent work as an additional music writer is featured on major streaming platforms,
with credits on FUBAR (Netflix, 2025), Mickey and the Very Many Christmases (Disney+, 2024), and Countdown (Amazon Prime, 2025). She also composed the original score for the documentary feature <Against All Enemies (2023)>, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
